The Occupy Wall Street movement has been under attack by politicians and even the media. Although the attempts to discredit the movement have failed, new information has surfaced claiming the Department of Homeland Security is working with local law enforcement to conduct massive surveillance. Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, executive director for the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund, joins us to analyze what DHS hopes to uncover. Like us and/or follow us: twitter.com www.facebook.com
The video was released Monday when it became public record. A security video from a McDonald’s in Ohio shows a woman punching two restaurant employees and smashing a drive-thru window because she couldn’t get Chicken McNuggets. The tantrum caught on tape in Toledo earlier this year shows the customer reaching through the drive-thru window, slugging one worker and then another. She then grabs a bottle out of her car and tosses it through the glass window before speeding off. It happened early on New Year’s Day. Police say Melodi Dushane was angry that McNuggets weren’t being served, because it was breakfast time. Dushane says she was drunk at the time. She was sentenced to 60 days in jail last month and ordered to pay McDonald’s for the broken window.

Students, get a full week of this at a summer seminar: lrnlbty.co Is Social Security a good retirement plan? Economics professor Antony Davies shows that Americans stand to earn significantly less and assume more risk with Social Security than other investment options. According to Davies, taxpayers would be better off both in terms of financial security and return on investment by investing their money privately. Social security is extremely expensive, soon to be insolvent, and doesn’t even offer taxpayers the most bang for their buck. For those reasons, Prof. Davies argues that it is time for the government to phase out Social Security. Davies’ solution: the government should honor its obligations to current retirees while giving Americans the freedom to invest their money as they see fit.

We Believe in Giving BackAnd We Do So in a Number of Ways
Ruby Tuesday Community GiveBack ProgramAt Ruby Tuesday we have a history of corporate citizenship and take pride in the support of charitable organizations in the communities where we live. Although we give extensively, most of our funds are committed. Therefore, we created the Ruby Tuesday Community GiveBack Program to offer organizations another way to raise money for their specific needs.
The Ruby Tuesday Community GiveBack Program offers a charitable donation to local organizations that host a dining event at any of our 700 plus locations. Our contribution is based on 20% of the net sales from guests that bring in a GiveBack flyer for the organization’s specific event*. Since the fundraising takes place at your local Ruby Tuesday restaurant, the money that is raised will benefit the communities in which we live, work and play.
* Coupons/discounts are not permitted. Tax/gratuity not included. Catering orders are not permitted.
Since August 2011, Ruby Tuesday has given back a total of $332,867.60!
